OLIVER JEFFERS
Illustration

We’ve posted Oliver Jeffers’ work a few times in the past and what better time to repost than on a Friday when you can while away the hours leading up to the weekend. He also, more conveniently, has got a series of prints available to buy, they are awesome.

Pictured is the cover from ‘Lost And Found’, the original, made in 2005, is watercolour on paper. Lost And Found is a story about a boys attempt to return the penguin that turned up at his door from whence it came. It involved an umbrella as a means of transport.

FUEL
It's Not Us, Graphic Design

Guest Poster — Ken Leung

I love the typographic sensibility that Fuel managed to bring to two of my favourite films. Their opening titles to both Lost in Translation and The Proposition were so refreshingly unexpected and a reminder of what can be achieved on commercial film titles.

EDD HARRINGTON
Graphic Design

Edd Harrington is currently studying graphic design at the university of Brighton. Pictured is his Japan Diary, a self-initiated project following a two week adventure to Japan.

‘I kept a diary of everything we did. As we hadn’t really planned anything, every little item we acquired was kept. The result is a diary based around the ephemeral nature of our trip, printed in black and spot red on dot matrix paper, japanese bound with red string encased in a gloss red slipcase. A hand written diary forms the content referencing photos and objects from the trip.’

THIS IS AN ORIGINAL SCREENPRINT
Illustration

After many broken promises, the fantastic Kate Gibb has finally started work on creating an online Print shop, entitled ‘This is an Original Screenprint’.

It’s early days but keep checking her blog for updates and new low edition print runs, and if they’re all as good as these first two I’m sure they’ll be a full-scale shop up very soon…

Bibliothèque is a London design studio that have a timeless quality to their work that I really admire. They have recently updated their website with work from the past 18 months. Most impressive is the colour coded signage system they produced for the V&A’s Cold War Modern Exhibition.

BRYAN DALTON
Illustration, Photography

How this has slipped through the net is a mystery. We’ve previously posted Bryan’s brilliant sweet gifs site, but have somehow overlooked giving his personal portfolio some air time.

When Bryan describes his work as ‘Illustration’ we expect pens, pencils, paper and lines, but instead get colours, still life photographs and intriguing objets d’art. Brilliantly refreshing and intriguing in equal measures.
